Clifton Forge Resident, Oak Hill Bible Church Pastor, Dies At Age 75

Pastor Lewis Mitchell (Michael) Simmons, age 75, of 1015 Ingalls Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

Michael was born on February 24, 1951 in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Howard Raymond Simmons and Nellie Joyce Andrews Simmons.

He served in the United States Army and became the pastor of the Oak Hill Bible Church in Clifton Forge. Always a godly man, Michael loved God and his faith was strong.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie H. Whittaker and Robin H. Downey, and a brother, Howard Douglas Simmons.

He is survived by a daughter, Michael Hattie “Mickey” Heinz (Ryan) of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Bonnie Mynes of Clifton Forge and Bobbie Keyser of Covington; two brothers, David Andrews of Covington and Brian Simmons of Low Moor; and two grandchildren, Von Heinz and Revel Heinz.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.
