Obituary for Jesse Leon Drennen Jesse Leon Drennen
Clifton Forge Resident, Longtime Westrock Laborer Retiree, Dies At Age 77

Jesse Leon Drennen, age 77, of 504 Tremont Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at his residence.

Jesse was born on October 9, 1948 in West Virginia to the late Jesse Stanford Drennen and Thelma Louise Burdette Drennen.

He served in the Army Reserves from 1967 to 1973 in Rainelle, WV and retired as a laborer for Westvaco in 2007 after 40 years.

Jesse enjoyed being outside. He loved working in his yard, going to his camp, and sitting on his porch. He was a fishing and hunting enthusiast, as his health permitted, though most of the shots he took were from behind a camera lens. He loved the Lord and loved his family.

In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a great grandson, Gary Lee Knick, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Myrtle Helga Tucker Drennen; a daughter, Cynthia Quantz (special friend, Stephen Greenblatt) of Covington; a son, Eric Drennen (wife, Melissa) of Clifton Forge; his siblings, Edward Drennen (wife, Rita), of Clintonville, WV, Vicky Drennen of Hines, WV, Alan Drennen of Hines, WV, Julie Haught (husband, Gene) of Atlanta, ID, Natalie Posten (husband, J.R.) of Peterstown, WV; eight grandchildren, Amber Lilly (husband, Scott), Hayley Drennen, Cedric Drennen (wife, Gretchen), Randall Deschler (wife, Ella), Sommer Hostetter (husband, Sam), Angel Foster (husband, Scott), Matthew Quantz, Jr. (wife, Naomie), and Trevor Quantz (wife, Brooklyn); 21 great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Shorty Wolfe, Pastor Dave Schmall, and Pastor Virgil Woodie officiating officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
