Julia Alline (Judy) Hale King, age 86, of Eagle Rock, Virginia, died on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Low Moor, Virginia.

Judy was born on November 18, 1939 in Alleghany County, Virginia, to the late Arthur Grant and Edna Alline Worley Hale.

She was retired from Gala Industries, but also worked as Special Education Aide for the Botetourt County School System for many years.

She was an active member of Galatia Presbyterian Church in Gala.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wesley King; three sisters, Nigal Cisco, Fleeta Newcomb and JoAnn Hicks; two brothers, Jerry Hale and Rodney Hale; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Hale; her father and mother-in-law, Norman F. and Lenna A. King; and three brothers-in-law, Bernie King, Coy King, and Norman Cletus King.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy K. Wright (Jeff) of Buena Vista and Robin K. Thompson (Richard) of Eagle Rock; three sons, Tim King (Lindsay), Chris King, and Steven King, all of Eagle Rock; two sisters, Brenda Adcock of Eagle Rock and Dixie Hale of Clifton Forge; and two sisters-in-law, Georgia Knighton (Larry) of Eagle Rock and Betty King of Covington; five grandchildren, Eric Wright, Allison Clark (Jonathan), Paul Thompson, Ashley Thompson, and Jeremy Thompson; four great grandchildren, Abel, Axton, Ainsley, and Nicholas; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Galatia Presbyterian Church at Gala in Botetourt County with Reverend Dr. Emily Hook, Reverend Robert McRae, Pastor Tommy Hurt, and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Galatia Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Eric Wright, Jeremy Thompson, Paul Thompson, Jonathan Clark, Jerry Hale, Jr., and Jeff Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry O. Caldwell, Axton Clark, Abel Clark, and Nicholas Thompson.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Judy's name to Eagle Rock Elementary School, 145 Eagles Nest Drive, Eagle Rock, VA 24085.
