Obituary for Nancy Ann Moore Nancy Ann Moore
Loved Window Dressing; Worked As A Welder During World War II

Nancy Ann Moore, 82, of Lexington, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the Lewis-Gale Medical Center.

She was born November 2, 1924 in Freeport, Illinois, a daughter of the late John Lucas Groves and Edith Mayer Groves.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald J. Moore.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Moore was an avoid gardener, swimmer, cook, and loved to water ski, camp and travel to the Caribbean and throughout the United States.

She was a lifetime member of Embury Methodist Church, and was a member of the Home Extension Club.

Her first passion was window dressing for department stores, which she did for many years. she was also a tutor for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. During World War II she worked as a welder in the Oakland, California shipyards while her husband served in the South Pacific.

Mrs. Moore was retired from Western States Insurance where she had worked as a claims processor for ten years.

She had a special relationship as an "adopted" grandparent for Brianne and Christy Hohmann.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ted. A Moore, whom she married in 1944 in Oceanside, California.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Lorae L. McDonald of Lexington, Virginia and Crystal E. Moore of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren: Pipe McDonald Newman and Jed McDonald; a great grandchild, Jalen Newman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., 3rd Floor, White Plains, New York 10605.

There will be no public viewing. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Lexington, Virginia, with Rev. Keith Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington, Virginia.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
