Lester Carmon Staton, 86, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, May 6, 2007.

He was born August 27, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Allin Staton and Audrey Coleman Staton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Irene Staton, two brothers and a sister.

He was retired from Burlington Industries and the U.S. Forest Service.

He is survived by five daughters: Margie Hardin, Penny Rowsey, both of Buena Vista; Carmen Higgins and Jean Newell, both of Lexington; and Brenda Dexter, Columbia, SC; one son, Geary Staton of Adamsville, TN; five step-children: Billy Cash, Harry Cash, Joanne Floyd, all of Hampton; Bob Cash, NC and Sue Jewell, Natural Bridge Station; ten grandchildren; one brother, Lyle Staton, Buena Vista; one sister, Mildred Ogden, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
