He was born March 19, 1936 in Charlottesville, a son of the late Robert Lewis Herndon and Mary Emma Nanley Herndon.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Evans Herndon; a sister, Mary Alice Proffitt; a nephew, Silas N. Proffitt; cousins and friends in Scottsville and Fluvanna.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 at Fluvanna Baptist Church Cemetery, Fluvanna, VA. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
