Army Veteran Owned, Operated Bolen's Machine Shop In Bustleburg

Hugh Robert "Bobby" Bolen, Jr., 76, of Bustleburg, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007.

He was born July 17, 1929 in Bustleburg, where he lived all his life.

Bobby was the son of the late Hugh Robert Bolen, Sr. and Lillie Mynes Bolen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Toman Bolen.

He was a member of the McElwee Chapel, where he served as Trustee and was on the cemetery committee.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a master machinist all his life, but also liked woodworking.

He owned and operated Bolen's Machine Shop in Bustleburg.

Bobby was a member of the Brownsburg Ruritan Club and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

He was retired from Burke, Parson Bowlby Corp., Goshen, Va.

Bobby is survived by two sons: Hugh E. Bolen and wife, Deborah, Fairfield; and John R. Bolen, Bustleburg; four grandchildren: Hannah and Andrew Bolen, Fairfield; and Amber and Lucas Bolen, Buena Vista.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2007 at the McElwee chapel with Dr. James Graves, Jr. and Rev. Malcolm Brownlee officiating. Burial will follow in the McElwee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brownsburg Ruritan Club or the Rockbridge Area Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
