Obituary for Leona C. Fontaine Leona C. Fontaine
Was Secretary At Lylburn Downing Middle School

Leona C. Fontaine, 67, of Lexington, died Monday, October 8, 2007 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1940 in Lexington, a daughter of the late William Taft Carter, Sr. and Janie Ruth Howe Carter.

Mrs. Fontaine was the secretary at the Lylburn Downing Middle School, and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

She is survived by two daughters: Gayla L. Fontaine, Charlottesville, and Voneese Fontaine, Richmond; two sisters: Ruth Mazique, Chicago and Barbara Drew, Lexington; two brothers: William T. Carter, Jr. and wife, Nettie Jo and Edward L. Carter, both of Lexington; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Brother Ed Mays officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
