Obituary for Mary Councill Gladstone Mary Councill Gladstone
Worked With Forest Service In Georgia

Mary Councill Gladstone died October 19, 2007.

A native of Lenoir, North Carolina, Mrs. Gladstone lived in Macon, Georgia for over 35 years. She moved to Virginia in 2001 and was currently a resident of Blue Ridge Christian Home in Raphine, Virginia.

She was a graduate of Davenport College in North Carolina, which later combined with Greensboro College. She was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, where she served as Administrative Assistant at the Southern Forest Fire Laboratory in Macon.

She was a member of the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Macon, where she served on the Altar Guild for several years. She was an active member of the Macon Woman's Club, the Forest Hills Garden Club, and did volunteer work in a number of different fields.

Mrs. Gladstone was the widow of Ernest Clarence Gladstone.

She is survived by a son, William Carter Gladstone of Wilmington, North Carolina; a daughter, Mary Gladstone Wilson of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Charles West, Sr., of Panama City, Florida; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five nieces, a nephew, and her dear friend, Paul Ryan of Macon.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the St. Francis Episcopal Church in Macon, with burial following in Riverside Cemetery. The Very Rev. Mr. Dan Edwards will officiate. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Francis Church or another charity of choice.
