John Henry Cooper, Sr., 77, of Lexington, Virginia, died November 19, 2007 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born November 23, 1929 in Collierstown, a son of the late Garfield and Evelyn Bannister Cooper.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Long Cooper, Lexington; two sons: Anthony Cooper and wife, Jeanette, and John Cooper, Jr. and wife, Kimberley, all of Richmond; two daughters: Sherida Cooper, Lexington and Valerie Grier and husband, Toliver, Newport News; a brother, Wilbert Cooper, Jamestown, NY; a sister, Ophelia Payne, Lexington; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Long Family Cemetery. There was no visitation except at the graveside.

Arrangements were handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
