Obituary for Geraldine (Staton) Cash Geraldine (Staton) Cash
She Was An Active Member Of Fairfield United Methodist Church

Geraldine (Staton) Cash, loving wife of Earl David Cash of 74 Snowy Egret Lane, Lexington, went to meet Jesus on Tuesday, January 22, 2008.

She as born March 5, 1940, in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Jesse Roosevelt and Lida Mae (Noel) Staton.

Geraldine had been employed at General Electric and Genicom in Waynesboro and retired from Virginia Military Institute Laundry. She was faithful to Christ and a very active member of Fairfield United Methodist Church. She served as a Staunton District UM Delegate to the Virginia Annual Conference, was Staunton District Vice President of the United Methodist Women and the Staunton District Representative of the Hermitage Guild. She loved serving as counselor on the staff of Camp Rainbow Connection.

In addition to her husband, Geraldine is survived by daughter, Karen Sue and husband, Aron Thompson; son, Robert Franklin Cash of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Kimberly Jean and husband, Brian Hotaling of Branch, LA; brothers, Jesse James and wife, Laura Mae Staton of Mount Jackson, VA, Russell and wife, Patty Staton, of Gettysburg, PA, and Larry and wife, Marjorie Staton of Frederick, MD; sisters, Barbara Barnhouse, Chesapeake, VA, Katherine Mellinger of Gettysburg, PA, and Maxine and husband, James Lonas, of Toms Brook, VA; grandchildren, David Aron and wife, Krissy Thompson, of Grottoes, VA, Danielle and Cassandra Thompson and Christopher Cash of Stuarts Draft, VA, Brooke and husband, Roger Thompson, of Woodstock, VA, Michelle Cash of New Market, VA, and Lindsey, Samantha, and Kelsey Hotaling of Branch, LA; and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Kyra Thompson and Devin Mullins.

A service celebrating Geraldine's life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25th at Fairfield United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Simmons.

Pallbearers will be Robert T. Cash, Jesse Cash, Joshua Cash, Joseph Cash, Jacob Cash, Guy Shifflet and Roy Shifflet.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ladies of the United Methodist Women, Sunshine Sisters, and friends from VMI Laundry.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fairfield United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 24, 2008, and other times at her home.
