Obituary for Nathaniel Thomas Moore, Sr. Nathaniel Thomas Moore, Sr.
County Native Dies At Age 75

Nathaniel Thomas Moore, Sr., 75, of Lexington, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 4, 1932 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Samuel Thomas Moore and Hester Viola Akers Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Moore.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 1499 and the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Betty Jane Higgins Moore; two daughters: Yvonne Abigail Lawhorne and husband, Milton, of North Carolina; and Sandra Lou "Tater" Kirby and husband, George, Lexington; two sons: Nathaniel Thomas Moore, II and wife, Tammy, Springfield, VA; and Stanley Todd Moore and special friend, Peggy Cain, Buena Vista; one brother, Lorain R. Moore, MD; two sisters: Goldie May Miller, Fairfield; and Myrtle Jane Clark, Natural Bridge; eight grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brian Weger officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
