Obituary for Lurty Freeman Straub, Jr. Lurty Freeman Straub, Jr.
USPS Retiree Was World War II Veteran

Lurty Freeman Straub, Jr., 85, of Lexington, passed away quietly February 9, 2008.

Mr. Straub was born July 16, 1922 in Lexington, Virginia, the son of the late Lurty Freeman Straub Sr. and Sally Showalter Straub.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 wonderful years, Edna Chaplin Straub.

Retired from the United States Postal Service after 31 years of service, Mr. Straub was founded of L. F. Straub Repair Shop and was a member of the Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church.

He was also a veteran of World War II, stationed in the Pacific.

He is survived by a son, Francis Lee Straub; a granddaughter, Hayley Gardner and a close and dear friend, Lil Woiblett.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the Timber Ridge ARP Presbyterian Cemetery with the Reverend Carl Moore officiating.

The Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
