Margarete Anna Mattern Henne, 87, of 1492 Old Providence Road, Spottswood, Augusta County, Virginia, died Monday, February 25, 2008 in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville.

She was born in Grose Rackwitz, Kreis Loewenberg, Schlesien (Silesia), Germany, a daughter of the late Bruno and Anna Pauline Kolt Mattern.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Arthur J. Henne, Spottswood; a son, Michael John; one grandson, Charles; and two sisters: Wanda Kopelke and Gertrud Stegelmeier, both in Germany.

The Liturgy of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lexington, with Rev. Mark Schroeder officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery, Mt. Tabor Road, Augusta County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
