Obituary for Gilbert Simon Watkins Gilbert Simon Watkins
County Native Was Retired From Geneal Shale Brick Company

Gilbert Simon Watkins, 86, of Natural Bridge Station, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center.

He was born December 31, 1921 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Terry Simon and Cora Parker Watkins.

He was a member of the Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship and was retired from General Shale Brick Company.

Mr. Watkins followed the Lord's work and was supportive of many churches.

He led Bible class at the nursing home. He was an avoid history reader.

Mr. Watkins is survived by a brother, William "Bill" Watkins, Natural Bridge Station; a sister, Gladys Lynn and husband, Frederick W., Buena Vista; a special niece, Angela Watkins, Natural Bridge Station; special sister-in-law, Dorothy T. Watkins, Natural Bridge Station.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nathan Phillips and Rev. Conald Fogus officiating. Burial will follow in Glasgow Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
