Obituary for Winifred Quinn Leyden In Memoriam: Winifred Quinn Leyden
1927-2008

Winifred Quinn Leyden, eighty-one, died at her home after a brief illness. Born in Woodhaven, New York City on January 12, 1927, she lived the last twenty-eight years of her life in Lexington, Virginia.

She graduated with a degree in political science from Queens College, New York, and devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by Peter Leyden III, her husband of fifty-nine years and five children and their spouses: Mary Lehr and husband, Richard of Annapolis, Maryland; Peter Martin Leyden and wife, Mary of Northfield, Massachusetts; Thomas Leyden and wife, Constance of Crosswicks, New Jersey; Robert Leyden and wife, Sharon of Bowie, Maryland; and Kathleen Lynch and husband, John of Billercia, Massachusetts.

Winnie was gradmother to ten extraordinary young people: Michael, Jennifer, and Jessica Lehr; Peter IV and Daniel Leyden; Taylor Leyden; Christopher Latorre and Eric Leyden; and Kerry and Matthew Lynch.

Winnie, an avid bridge player, also loved the hills and valleys of the Shenandoah and the peace and tranquility of Lexington.

Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's Church, Lexington, on April 5 at 11 a.m. and a private family burial will take place at the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery on April 6, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Patrick's Church at 231 West Nelson Street, Lexington, Virginia 24450 or the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, Virginia 24450.
