County Native Dies At Age 93

Lottie Mae Bennington Messick, 93, of Glasgow, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 in the Benjamin Borden Health Care Center.

She was born November 17, 1014 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late John James and Blanche Johnson Wilcher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl H. Bennington and Virgil Messick; three brothes and seven sisters.

Mrs. Messick is survived by a son, Robert J. Bennington, Barren Springs, VA; two daughters: Uvon B. McDaniel, Amherst and Virginia B. Roswey, Pulaski; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lewis McDaniel and Rev. Gary Vernon officiating. Burial will follow in the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, VA. 24450.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
