Washington, DC Metro Transit Authority Retiree; Member of Oxford Presbyterian Church

Kermit Thomas Wooldridge, 75, of Rapps Mill, passed way Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in Roanoke Carilion Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1932 in Davey, WV.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maggie Wooldridge; mother Grace Wooldridge of Oakwood, VA; brother, Hassel & Shelia Wooldridge of Grundy, VA; sister, Elise Dee and Renee Kruetter; daughters, Linda and Roy Chester of Rapps Mill, Debbie and John Gorman of Linden, VA, Tommie Lea and Jimmy Roper of Rapps Mill; son, Kermit T. Wooldridge, Jr. and Sylvia Helmick of Rapps Mill; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kermit retired from Washington, DC Metro Transit Authority in 1988 and moved to Rapps Mill with his wife. He and Maggie were devoted volunteers at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Oxford Presbyterian Church in Lexington.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2008 at Oxford Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to Effinger Volunteer Fire Department, 2824 Collierstown Rd., Lexington, VA 24450.
