Obituary for Shirley Wells Shirley Wells
Bedford County Native Dies At UVA

Shirley Wells, 60, of Lexington, Virginia, died Friday, May 2, 2008 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.

She was born on December 25, 1947 in Bedford County, Virginia, daughter of the late Charlie Dabney and Mary Elizabeth Bright Dabney.

Shirley was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in Big Island, Virginia. She also attended the New hope Church of God in Christ in Lexington, Virginia.

Surviving are her daughter, Judy Wells, of Lexington; her son, Albert Wells Jr. and wife, Jane Ann, of Buena Vista, VA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; four sisters: Maggie Eggleston and husband, William and Louise Spinner, both of Big Island, Va; Dorothy Husaw and husband, Henry, of Buchanan, VA; and Rosa Spinner of Lexington, VA; five brothers: Jimmy Dabney and wife, Treva, of Lynchburg, VA; Curtis Dabney of Dayton, OH; George Dabney and wife, Patricia, of Big Island, Va; and Steve Dabney and wife, Saundra, of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers-in-law: Sonny Francis of Silver Spring, MD; and Jeff Husaw of Lexington, VA. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers: Charley Dabney Jr. and Edward Dabney; two sisters: Elizabeth Francis and Patsy Husaw.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Donald E. Conner Jr. and Rev. Rennie Otey officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service of Buena Vista, Virginia.
