Karen Sue Ruley, 49, of Troy, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at her home.

Born in Rockbridge County, January 21, 1959, she was the daughter of Georgie Southers Ruley and the late Albert M. Ruley.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Philip D. Radick; a sister, Sandra S. Alvis and husband, Sidney, of Charlotte, NC. She had two brothers: James A. Ruley and wife, Mary Ruley of Glasgow, and Carl E. Ruley of West Virginia; three canine friends, Hannah, Scout and Patti.

After graduating from Parry McCluer High School in 1976, she attended V.C.U. and graduated from Eastern Mennonite College in 1980. She received her nursing degree at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Virginia.

She was employed at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital, working in the Intensive Care Unit. She also was employed at Lewis-Gale Hospital and retired from UVA as a radiology nurse.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008 in the Green Hill Mausoleum with Father Joseph D'Aurora officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home in Buena Vista, Virginia.
