Obituary for Bessie Painter Slough Bessie Painter Slough
Retired From Burlington Industries With Over 40 Years Of Service

Bessie Painter Slough, 90, of Glasgow, died Saturday, July 19, 2008. Born November 17, 1917 in Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas Painter and Mary Rosalee Scott Painter.

Mrs. Slough was a lifetime memer of the Glasgow Presbyterian Church, member of the Church Women's Circle and Honorary member of the Rockbridge Women's Club.

Bessie also retired from Burlington Industries with more than forty years of service.

Mrs. Slough was preceded ind eath by her husband, Earl Slough; four sisters: Margaret Birckhead; Ruth Breeden Scott; Annie Painter; and Mildred Leech; two brothers: Frank and Francis Painter; and a nephew, Wayne Painter.

Surviving are special nieces and nephews, Peggy Birckhead Andrews, Florence, S.C.; Beth Painter Smith, Bridgewater, VA; Bill Painter, Powhatan, Va; Dennis Leech, Haymarket, Va; John Birckhead and Jo Ann Leech Rigatti, both of Roanoke; and Russell Breeden, of Lynchburg.

Mrs. Slough loved her family, friends, church, and Town of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Glasgow Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Judy Weger officiating. Interment will follow in the Glasgow Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Glasgow Presbyterian Church, Glasgow Rescue Squad or Fire Department. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 4 to 6 p.m.
