Obituary for Virginia Mull Shanks Virginia Mull Shanks
County Native Dies At Age 73

Virginia Mull (Boggie) Shanks, 73, of Natural Bridge Station, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at her home with her family by her side.

Virginia was born February 9, 1935 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late John William Mull and Lillie Swanger Mull.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothes and four sisters.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Burley C. Shanks; two daughters and sons-in-law: Pamela and Glenn (Willie) Wingo of Blue Ridge and Tracy and Toni Akers of Natural Bridge Station; five grandchildren: Eric Wingo and wife Jennifer; David Wingo; Ashley Akers and fiance Perry Hardin; Michael Akers; and T. J. Akers; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Glayds Mull of Glasgow; many special nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Allie.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nathan Phillips and Rev. Conald Fogus officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
