Barbara Monteith Chittum, 70, of Fairfield, died Monday, July 28, 2008 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 21, 1938 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late William and Frances Hawkins Monteith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis "Chunky" Wells and a sister, Josephine Schley.

Surviving are her husband, Anthony L. Chittum; a daughter, JoAnn Fauber, Fairfield; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Spring Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Mace and Rev. Luther Witt officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
