Obituary for Blair Everett Nicely Blair Everett Nicely
Avid Golfer Worked With Burlington Industries For 40 Years

Blair Everett (Red) Nicely, 81, of Lexington, died August 1, 2008 at his home.

The son of the late Will and Salenah Knick Nicely, Blair was born on June 24, 1927 in Rockbridge County.

He is survived by June Moore Nicely, his wife of 53 years.

He is also survived by his daughter, Donna Coleman and her husband, Sam of Chesapeake; his son, Blair Alan Nicely of Natural Bridge; two grandchildren: Calvin Coleman and Kristina Nicely; several nieces, nephews and many other special relatives and friends.

Blair was predeceased by his brothers, Roscoe, James Kenton and Billy Edward.

He was the youngest of four brothers.

He servied in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

He retired from Burlington Industries, James Lee Division, in March 1987 after 40 years of service.

He was able to have many retirement years to master his golf game and enjoy time with his many friends.

Blair was a member of and attended Lauderdale A.R. Presbyterian Church in Lexington.

A service celebrating Blair's life will be conducted by the Rev. James Graves on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the Lauderdale A.R. Presbyterian Church.

Interment will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.

Rather than memorial flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, Va. 24450 or the Lauderdale A. R. Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Main Street, Lexington, Va. 24450.
