Gracie Virginia Lawhorn Staton, 93, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008.

She was born March 11, 1915 in Augusta County.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Staton was preceded in death by three sons, Genie, Daniel and Jimmy Staton.

She was married at sixteen years of age and, during WWII, worked in the shipyard in Norfolk. Mrs. Staton was retired from Burlington Industries after 35 years of service.

Surviving are seven grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Jason Emore, Troy Emore, Amanda Mason, Millie Travers, Misty Wright, and Scott Cooper.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Lyle Staton and Ronald Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
