Doris Jean Sorrells Hall, 69, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008.

Ms. Hall was born July 26, 1939, in Forest, a daughter of the late Raymond Sorrells and Clara Nadell Carr.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hensley; a brother, Raymond Sorrells, Jr.; and her stepfather who raised her, Emmett T. Carr, whom she loved like a father.

She enjoyed gardening and was an avid bingo player. Her family was the love of her life, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of Tree of Life Ministries.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Dawn Woody and her fiance Brian Burns, Vanessa Renee Ward and her husband David, and Rhonda Kaye Evans and her fiance James Peters, all of Lynchburg; two sisters, Mary Ellen Witt of Rustburg and Bonnie Carr of Lynchburg; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 2008, from 7:00 Ð 8:30 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and all other times at 71 Winebarger Circle. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Tree of Life Cemetery.
