Ted Wilfred Campbell, 78, of Fairfield, Virginia, died Sunday, September 7, 2008 in Avante of Waynesboro.

Mr. Campbell was born March 11, 1930 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Harry Houston Campbell and Josephine Chittum Campbell.

He was the principal of Rockbridge High School for several years.

Mr. Campbell was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Fairfield United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Louise Campbell.

Surviving are three children: Michael Scott Campbell of Clifton; Terry Patrick Campbell of Fairfield; and Lisa Anne Campbell of Tampa, FL; one brother, Kennan Campbell of Fairfield; and one sister, Betty Jo Bear of Rural Retreat; and three grandsons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield United Methodist Church, 5622 N. Lee Highway, Fairfield, Virginia 24435. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
