Obituary for Harvey Burnett Albert, Jr. Harvey Burnett Albert, Jr.
Former FNB President & CEO Dies At Age 88

HHarvey Burnett Albert, Jr., age 88, of 833 Acacia Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.

Born January 20, 1920 in Bluefield, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Harvey B. Albert, Sr. and Helen Whitescarver Albert.

He served in the United States Air Force during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations, where he was shot down three times and became a European escapee.

He retired from the banking industry after forty-one years, having served as President and CEO of First National Bank of Clifton Forge and Chairman of the Board of Directors of First National Bank and Mainstreet First National Bank.

He was also active in the community as a past President and Director of the Cliftondale Country Club and the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge No. 1065.

He was a member of the Blacksburg Baptist Church and the Eggleston Masonic Lodge No. 309 A.F. & A.M.

He was an avid golfer and a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Oveda Swaim Albert of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Rosetta "Bud" Jenkins and her husband Jerry of Valley Ridge, Covington; a sister, Nancy Albert Albert of Blacksburg; two grandchildren: Preston Jenkins and wife, Angie of Aurora, CO; and Kimberly Polesak and husband, Ron of Crockett, CA; five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor, with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Entombment will follow.

There will be no formal visitation. However, friends may call any time at the Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, or at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Cliftondale Country Club, P.O. Box 26, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
