World War II Veteran Worked At Lee's Carpets For 29 Years

Samuel Loyd Diamond, 84, of Natural Bridge, Virginia, departed this life on Thursday, December 4, 2008.

He was the son of the late George Washington and Emily Josephine Diamond of Natural Bridge, Virginia.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Genevia Gloria Watts-Diamond; and a son, Robert Samuel Diamond.

Samuel (Sammy) enjoyed a full life.

He served in the United States military and fought in World War II and received the following decorations and citations: American Theatre Service Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Ribbon.

After leaving the military, he worked for the railroad and at Lee's Carpets, where he retired after 29 years of service.

Surviving are a son; a daughter; five stepchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; great grandchildren; and other loving family members.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Natural Bridge with Pastor Mark McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Diamond Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
