Peggy Marie (Lunsford) Day, 80, widow of George W. Day of 86 Days Lane, Raphine, died Thursday January 29, 2009 at her residence.

She was born November 29, 1928 in Augusta County, a daughter of Willie Andrew and Mary Pauline (Gordon) Lunsford.

Prior to retirement, she was co-owner of Day's Gulf and Grocery. She was a member of Old Providence ARP Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Lunsford and two sisters, Jean Conner and Mary Stuart Hartbarger.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Debbie Day of Fairfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ray Sorrells of Raphine; a brother, Fred Lunsford of Steeles Tavern; five grandchildren: Travis, Eric and Tracy Sorrells, Stacy Clemmer and Julia Day; and two great grandchildren, Kayla and Justin Clemmer.

A graveside service was conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Old Providence ARP Church Cemetery by Rev. Bill Harris.

The family will receive friends anytime at the home.
