Obituary for Robert Edward Forgie Robert Edward Forgie
Self-Employed Electrical Contractor Was Westgate Resident

Robert Edward "Ed" Forgie, age 69, of 200 Ferrol Avenue, (Wesgate) Clifton Forge, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on March 11, 1939 in Bedford County, Virginia, a son of the late William Raymond and Bonnie Belle Craft Forgie.

He was a self-employed electrical contractor and carpenter. He belonged to the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers), and was a member of Walnut Grove Union Church in Montvale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Mundy and a brother, William "Bill" Forgie.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Lee Cabaniss Forgie of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Lori Beamer of Thornton, CO; Charlotte Cook of Forest; and Shelby Cook of Madison; three sons, Eric Forsyth of Bemidji, MN; Dwaine Forsyth of Pearl City, HI; and Robert Edward Cook of Richmond;his four step children, Kenneth Almond and wife, Jeanie of Vinton; Cindy Abbott and husband, Glenn of Columbia, SC; James Almond and wife, Brenda of Roanoke; and Pamela Abshire and husband, Daniel of Roanoke; four sisters, Nancy Rowles of Lynchburg; Mary Sue Millard and husband, Bob of Salt Lake City, UT; Iva Mae Heisler and husband, Marvin of Chattanooga, TN; and Ruby Cox and husband, Darrell of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Raymond Forgie and wife, Anna Mae of Roanoke, and David Forgie and wife, Barbara of Richmond; nine grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar and Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Walnut Grove Union Church Cemetery in Montvale. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Almond, Glenn Abbott, Daniel Abshire, Kenny Mundy, P. L. Pearman, and LeRoy Perkins. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
