Retired Construction Laborer Worked At Back Creek Project

Willie Nelson "Bill" Webb, age 86, of 803 Frazier Hill Lane, Clifton Forge died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at his residence.

Born March 4, 1923 in Covington, Virginia, Bill was a son of the late John Benjamin and Stella Bess Webb.

He was a retired construction laborer for the Back Creek Project in Bath County and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served as an elder.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved watching his grandchildren dance. He also enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Noel Webb of Clifton Forge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ginger and Arthur "Buck" Elmore of Covington, and Sherry and Charlie Watts of Clifton Forge; six grandchildren: Lisa Curtis and husband, Bobby; Kathy Anderson, Tim Elmore and wife, Michele, Machelle Dressler, and husband Allen, Tammy Persinger and husband Mike, and Kim Anglin and husband, Larry; nine great grandchildren: Daniel Curtis, Jared Anderson, Tristan Elmore, Carlee Elmore, Kenny A. Farren, Corey Persinger, Chloe Persinger, Koedi Anglin, and Joshua Anglin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Elder Basil Sampson and Elder Dan Campbell officiating.

Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Webb, Bucky Webb, Sam Webb, James Dobbs, Eddie Putnam, John Shaffer, Garland Whiting, and Gary Brown.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
