Obituary for Harold Dean Burch Harold Dean Burch
Former Acadia Polymers Employee Was County School Bus Driver

Harold Dean Burch, age 61, formerly of 221 Race Street, Clifton Forge, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.

Born May 25, 1948 in Covington, Virginia, he was a son of the late Lovie Jackson Burch and Agnes Sprouse Burch.

He was employed by Acadia Polymers for over thirty years and was a bus driver for Alleghany Highlands Public Schools.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was past president of Bordenier Riding Club.

He enjoyed the outdoors, including riding horses, fishing, and hunting, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Burch.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-two years, Sandra Burch of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Amanda Nicely and husband, Walter of Clifton Forge and Adreanna Burch of New York; four sons, Harold A. Burch and wife, Christine of Clifton Forge; Steven Burch and wife, Greta of Cape Coral, FL; Matthew R. Burch and girlfriend, Caressa of Clifton Forge; and Michael E. Burch of New York; a sister, Carol Johnson and husband, Bill of Richmond; a special daughter-in-law, Kristin Burch; ten grandchildren: Shea-Lyn Newcomb, Larra Newcomb, Alana Burch, Logan Burch, Cayden Burch, Owen Burch, Sheridan Burch, Christopher Nicely, Crystal Nicely, and Benjamin Nicely; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Wayne and Linda Caldwell.

A funeral service was held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Dean Bowser and Reverend Charles Feury officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington. Pallbearers were Harold A. Burch, Steven Burch, Matthew Burch, Walter Nicely, Christopher Nicely, and Wayne Caldwell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Walter and Amanda Nicely, 60 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Calvary Baptist Church, 113 N. Wills Ave., Covington, VA 24426.
