Obituary for Earnest Wade (John) Lewis Earnest Wade "John" Lewis
Truck Driver Worked With W.R. Deacon & Sons

Earnest Wade (John) Lewis, of Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday August 25, 2009 at the Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, N.C.

He was born February 13,1945 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Lee Lewis an Edith Birley Lewis.

Mr. Lewis worked for W.R. Deacon and Sons as a truck driver and he was member of Palestine Chapel Presbyterian Church. He was also an honorary member of Dunlap Fire Department an Rescue Squad.

Surviving are his wife and companion of 48 years, Yvonne Howard Lewis, of Covington; one daughter, Debbie Palmer and her husband, David of Covington; four sisters: Jo Anna Cook and her husband, Julian of Covington, Janet Rider of White Sulphur Springs, WV; Martha Wilkerson her husband, Bobby of Covington, and Charlotte Wilkerson of Wickliffe KY; one brother, Robert Lewis and his wife, Winnie of Roanoke; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Mandy Howard of Covington, and special brother-in-law, Wayne Howard of Covington.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by three brothers" Bill Lewis, Buck Lewis, and Haden Lewis; three sisters: Frances Elliott, Gertrude Vail and Carol Pearson.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Palestine Chapel Cemetery. Friends wishing to attend the service should assemble at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia.
