Born September 3, 1942 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of Rheudene Ayers of Lexington and the late Gilmore Ayers.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Hilda Smith.

He is survived by his brother, Melvin M. Ayers; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Collierstown Methodist Church.

The Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory will be handling the arrangements.
