Obituary for Judith Ann (Graves) Halseth Judith Ann (Graves) Halseth
Michigan Native Was Expert Seamstress, Very Active In Her Community

Judith Ann (Graves) Halseth 69, of Lexington, VA, died Friday, September 18, 2009 at home with her family at her side.

She had been diagnosed with liver, lung and kidney cancer only two weeks prior.

Judy was born February 11, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan, the only child of Glenn and Ruah (Wise) Graves, both deceased.

She attended school in Lansing, MI and Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI.

She married Richard C. Halseth December 19, 1959. They lived in Lansing, MI, Dearborn, MI, Seven Hills, OH, and Livonia, MI before retiring to Lexington in 1997.

Prior to retirement she was a personal secretary, office manager and credit manager for several automotive-related businesses in the Detroit area. While in Lexington she was a volunteer at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, a greeter/usher at Lexington Presbyterian Church and for the last nine years volunteered at Rockbridge Area Hospice. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

She was an expert seamstress and produced exquisite works in crochet, needlepoint, knitting, and quilting for which she won top awards at the Rockbridge Regional Fair. For many years she produced quantities of small knitted blankets for Lisa's House and Rockbridge Area Hospice.

She is survived by her husband Dick Halseth and three sons and their families. Mark A. Halseth and his wife, Kerry and daughter, Haley of Ypsilanti, MI; Scott C. Halseth and his wife, Brenda and their children, Savanna and Mason of Livonia, MI; Craig M. Halseth and his wife, Brigette and their son, Ronin of Northville, MI. She also is survived by 12 cousins.

The family wishes to thank all their friends for their overwhelming support.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Lexington Presbyterian Church, Lexington, VA at 10 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

Her family always came first.
