John Carl Moore, 89, of Lexington, died Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

He was born May 21, 1920, a son of the late Graham Ross Moore and Mary Phoebe Broughman.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bertha Sorrells Moore.

Surviving are his children, Mary Ann White and husband, Rudell of Lexington; John L. Moore and wife, Edna of Gordonsville; Carl M. Moore and wife, Nita; Deborah Kibler and husband, Ed of Lexington; one sister, Ann Mays of Stuarts Draft; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with Pastor Hunter Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockbridge Area Hospice, P O Box 948, Lexington, VA 24450.
