Calvary Brethren Church Member Dies At Age 61

James Thomas (Jimmy)Lipscomb, 61, of Buena Vista, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009.

Born on November 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Clarence Lipscomb.

He is survived by his loving mother, Pearl Lipscomb of Lexington and his loving and devoted wife and soul mate of 31 years, Cynthia M. Lipscomb.

Pappy was a special, loving daddy to his three surviving children: a daughter, Tammy Lipscomb Hostetter of Lexington; a son, James P. Lipscomb and wife, Jessica of Lexington; a daughter, Crystal Floyd and husband, Kenny of Buena Vista.

Pappy was also a wonderful granddaddy to his five precious grandchildren: April Richardson, Leighton Hostetter, Tori Lipscomb, Taylor Lipscomb and Candice Floyd.

Jim is also survived by his very special brothers: Tony Lipscomb and wife, Cindy of Fairfield; Harold LIpscomb of Alvin, Texas; John LIpscomb and wife, Doris of Roanoke; and Anthony Lipscbomb of Lexington.

He is survived by a very special mother-in-law, "Memaw" Margaret Dyer Argenbright and the late Earl Ryland Argenbright; special sister-in-law, Ellen Austin and husband, David; brother-in-law, Ron Argenbright and friend, Marty Martin; and many special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Brethren Chrch in Buena Vista with Pastor Sebby Volpe officiating. Interment will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his wife for family expenses or you may make a contribution in Pappy's name to any of the following charities: The American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association or The Myositis Association.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
