Obituary for William Edward "Bill" Sanders William Edward "Bill" Sanders
Air Force Veteran Was Local Banker

William Edward (Bill) Sanders 77, of 411 Brentwood Drive, Covngton, Virginia, died Monday night at his home.

Mr. Sanders was born March 8, 1932 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Thomas E. Sanders and Sadie Tingler Sanders Anderton.

Bill was a veteran of 21 years service with the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Tech Sergeant after serving through the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He was employed with the former Covington National Bank and First Virginia Bank in Covington for 22 years, retiring in 1994 as Trust Officer.

He was a very active member and past president of the Covington Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Alleghany Country Club and always enjoyed his golf games.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Chapman Sanders of Covington; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tiffany Sanders of Covington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and William "Mutt" Reynolds and Leesa and Eddie Dudley, all of Covington; three grandchildren, Derek Reynolds of Blacksburg, Ashley Lowe and her husband, David, and Christy Nicely and her husband, John, all of Clifton Forge; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Vicky Anderton of Lexington, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

Friends may pay their respects at any time at Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia. The family received friends Wednesday evening at Arritt Funeral Home.

Memorials: The family suggests that donations in Mr. Sander's name be made to the Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
