James (Jimmy) Eldridge Carter, 76, of Lexington died Friday, December 18, 2009 in Golden Living Center.

Born February 22, 1933 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Everett H. and Nannie Drain Carter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Carter, Samuel Carter, Harold Carter; a granddaughter, Tara Carter; and a son-in-law, David Clark.

Surviving are his wife, Rose Nuckols Carter; sons, James Carter, Jr. and wife, Chris of NV, Dennis Carter and wife, Tonya, Norman Carter, all of OH; Randy "Bo" Carter and wife, Delores of Roanoke; daughters, Teresa Carter of Buena Vista, Pamela Viar and husband, Steve of Troutville; Carolyn Clark and Kevin Marcum of Buena Vista; brothers and sisters, Jake Carter of Buena Vista, Mary Edward and husband, Marvin of Lorton, VA, Joyce Trykowskyi of Buena Vista; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; life-long friend, Claudie Henson of Buena Vista.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sonny Wilhelm officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
