Delores Dawn Powell, 60, of 210 Ridgewood Circle, Valley Ridge, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.

She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on April 25, 1949, a daughter of the late Willard Melvin Powell, III and Opal Reynolds Powell.

Delores was the current office manager at Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor.

She was a very active member of the Oak Hill Bible Church in Clifton Forge and loved her church family.

She was a lover of all animals.

She is survived by a sister, Eulonda Cash of Eagle Rock; special nieces, Melinda Hayslett of Eagle Rock and Karrie Jo Bream of Culpeper; a nephew, Jamie Mynes of Eagle Rock; great nieces and nephews, Cane Hayslett, Riley Bream and McKenna Hayslett; a special friend, Danny Clark of Covington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tambra Powell "Tammy" Mynes in 2000 and by a nephew, Brian Cash in 1987.

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Bush officiating. Interment was made in the Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. The family received friends Tuesday evening at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia.
