Homemaker Was Employed By The Dept. Of The Navy

Verna Lokeel Evans Fridley, age 88, of The Golden Living Center, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the nursing home.

Born September 20, 2921 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, Lokeel was a daughter of the late William Blane and Armeta Noel Evans.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and was employed by the United States Department of the Navy for a number of years.

She was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years and belonged to the W.M.U. of the church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. "Bill" Fridley and a brother, B. C. Evans.

She is survived by a sister, Arlene Houston of Louisville, KY; three nephews, Richard Evans and wife, Jana of Selma, Wayne Evans and wife, Pam of Selma and Bruce Houston of Louisville, KY; and a number of cousins.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Entombment followed in the Mausoleum of Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers were selected from friends and family attending the service. The family received friends Thursday before the service at Nicely Funeral Home.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, Virginia, handled the arrangements.
