Obituary for Peggy Clarke Crawford Peggy Clarke Crawford
Covington Resident Was Former Mick-or-Mack Clerk, Hercules Employee

Peggy Clarke Crawford, 80, of 403 Lacks Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Brian Center in Low Moor.

She was born August 25, 1929 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late John H. and Minnie Noel Clarke.

Mrs. Clarke was a clerk at the former Mick or Mack Grocery Store in Covington. She had retired from former Hercules and was a former employee of the Industrial Rayon Corp.

During her married years, Mrs. Crawford and her husband, Robert, had a lot of good times at Smith Mountain Lake fishing for Stripper Bass, catching a number of citations.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Crawford in 2003; a son, Ronald L. Crawford and two brothers, Gerald Lee Clarke and John J. Clarke.

Surviving a are her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Donna Crawford of Clifton Forge; a former daughter-in-law, Terry Bromley; granddaughter, Becky Conley and her husband, Arthur; one grandson, Ronald Crawford, Jr. and his wife, Erin; great grandchildren, Christine Conley; Kimberly Conley; Mercedes Crawford; Ronald "Trey" Crawford III and Keley Deagle.; one great great granddaughter, Vanessa Metto; four sisters, Betty Stull, Barbara Flint and her husband, James; Rena Wilmer and Joyce and William Knighton, all of Covington; two brothers, Tommy Clarke and his wife, Sharon of Richmond and Bobby Clarke of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews; neighbors, Larry and Freda Mann of Covington; special caretakers, Dawn Ambrose and Charlotte Gibson and the staff of the Brian Center.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating.

The interment will be made in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Friends may pay their respects any time at the Arritt Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Wayne and Donna Crawford at 1812 N. Oakwood Drive, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

Memorial donations in Mrs. Crawford's name may be made to Mallow Presbyterian Church, 2004 Mallow Road, Covington, VA 24426.
