Obituary for Edith Tucker Vance Edith Tucker Vance
Alleghany County Native Was Midway Christian Church Member

Edith Tucker Vance, 72, of Tucker-Vance Road, Covington, Virginia, died Monday evening, March 1, 2010 at her residence.

She was born April 19, 1937 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late and William S. and Cindy Wolfe Tucker.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vance was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

She was member of the Midway Christian Church.

Mrs. Vance was a kind-hearted lady and was always ready to help anywhere she was needed.

Surviving are her husband of 37 years, William J. Vance of Covington; Elizabeth Bailey and Daniel Campbell; Robert Wayne Vance and Angie Rugbie; Rebecca and George Hosey and William Vance, all of Covington; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte and Joel Hizer of Eagle Rock; May Bell Harrison and Ethel Yingling, both of Roanoke; one brother, Charles and Vonda Tucker of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be held will held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the Lone Star Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Fisher officiating.

Friends may pay their respects at the Arritt Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the Vance residence on Vance-Tucker Road.

Pallbearers will be George Hosey, Daniel Campbell, Wendell Hosey, Steve Hosey, Bruce Plogger and Joe Hizer. Alternates will be Robert Myers Tucker, Jr. and David Via.

The Arritt Funeral Home, Covington, Virginia, is in charge of arrangements.
