Edward Reese Reid Sr., 84, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Saturday March 27, 2010 at Heritage Hall.

Born September 13, 1925 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late Reese Reid and Mary Ballard Reid.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie M. Reid, and a son, Edward Reese Reid Jr.

Mr. Reid retired from VDOT after 41 years of service.

Surviving are his sons, Jerry Wayne Reid and wife, Deana of Eden, NC; Donald William Reid and wife, Shirley; a daughter, Patricia Sweet and husband, Pete, all of Buena Vista; grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Reid Jr., Melissa Ann Duvall, Mathew Reid, E.J. Reid, Jason Reid, Stephanie Bowles and Karen Burch; sisters, Dorothy Teague of Rocky Mount; Nannie Ford of Lexington and Pearl Fix of Buena Vista; one brother, Tommy Reid of Lexington; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. George Warden officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory, Lexington VA.
