Richard Lenden (Dickie) Carter, 62, of Lexington, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born May 10, 1947 in Lexington, he was a son of Edith Sheets Carter and the late Claude Lenden Carter.

Dickie was a member of Kerrs Creek Baptist Church and was employed by E. I. DuPont de Nemours.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are two daughters, Deborah Carter of Lexington and Susan Dewees of Roanoke; one brother, Claude Douglas Carter of Sumter, SC; two sisters, Linda Carter Smith of Lexington and Judy Carter Innis of GA; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA. Interment will take place at a later date.
