Obituary for Bernard Grant Wade Bernard Grant Wade
MeadWestvaco Retiree Worked In The Power Department

Bernard Grant Wade, 86, of 618 S. Highland Avenue, Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1924 at Neola, West Virginia, a son of the late Willie Franklin Wade and Bessie Workman Wade.

Mr. Wade retired in 1986 from the Power Department at Meadwestvaco with over 40 years of service.

He was a member of the First Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wade was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita Marie "Honey" Wade in 1962; one sister, Allie Sue Vance; three brothers, Warren Wade, Paul Wade and Ellyz Wade and a nephew, Donald L. Pierce.

Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Elsie Pierce Wade of Covington; three sisters-in-law, Mary Wade of Neola, WV; Gladys Wade of Cleveland, OH and Margaret Puckett and her husband, Cecil, of Chester, VA and a brother-in-law, John Pierce, Jr. and his wife, Betty of Amelia; nine nieces and nephews, Michael and LeeAnn Puckett, Sherry Puckett, Alvin Vance, Jeffrey Vance, Gloria and Chris Roth, Dawn and Jack Brickman, Wanda and Michael Mills, John and Sandy Pierce and Judy and Michael Beavers.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010 in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. The interment followed Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family received their friends Thursday evening at Arritt Funeral Home.
