Leonia (Lee) Mae Edwards, loving mother, encouraging sister, uplifting friend, 72, of Goshen went to be with the Lord surrounded by family and loved ones at her home June 11, 2010.

Born in Augusta County in 1938, Lee was the daughter of Clarence Everett and Gay Nell Woods.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence (Sugar) Eugene Woods.

Lee is survived by her husband William (Billy) Earnest Edwards and brothers Franklin (Chuck) Everett Woods and Lester (Scooter) Lee Woods and wife, Carolyn; along with her three children, Eddie Edwards and wife, Lisa and their two daughters, Amber and Ashley, Scarlett Skeens and husband, Anthony and their daughter, Sarah Beth and Cheryl Chandler and husband, Robbie and their children Deanna, Emily, and William; in-laws Carolyn and husband, Steve Tolley, Wanda and husband, Todd Cook and Lorraine Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed spending her time at Edwards Convenience deli, where she shared her passion for Christ and food with others. She also was a member of the Goshen Baptist Church where she benefitted from her relationships with fellow believers. She had special relationships with Pastor Scott Reese, Tyler Clem, Lloyd Via and Pastor Mike and wife Barbara Raphael.

She battled cancer for more than 11 years, and she and her family are so thankful for the Augusta Health Cancer Center and their staff. The family extends special recognition to Dr. Stefanie Pitsilos, ministering not only to the patient, but who went above and beyond the title "doctor" for family and friends. Her care and dedication to our loved one is irreplaceable.

The family received family and friends at their home in Goshen on Monday, June 14, 2010. There will be a memorial service in celebration of her life held at Goshen Baptist Church in Goshen Va. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 6 p.m. A fellowship dinner will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Goshen Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society in her honor.
