Obituary for Katherine (Alise) Rice Moody Katherine (Alise) Rice Moody.
Arnolds Valley Southern Baptist Church Member Was Pianist/Organist

Katherine (Alise) Rice Moody, 92, of Natural Bridge Station, Virginia, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010.

She was the daughter of the late John B. and Lottie Wilcher Rice, and widow of Samuel F. Moody Jr.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Kay Wilcher; one brother and one sister.

Survivors Include two daughters, Brenda Alise Berry, of Natural Bridge Station, and Carol Sue Moody, of Harrisonburg; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother of unwavering faith, she was a member of the Arnolds Valley Southern Baptist Church for 87 years, where she was pianist/organist for 60 years. She had also been employed as a weather observer for the U.S. Forest Service.

A special thank you to Janet Aldridge, Shirley Hill and Margaret O'Roark for their faithful visits and also to her dear friends at Kendal: Lib, Stella, Jessica, Gladys and Libby. Also our deep appreciation to the staff at Kendal and Stonewall Jackson Hospital for the kind and loving care given to our mother.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday June 30, 2010 at Bolling Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Conald Fogus and Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Tolley Family Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Glasgow Rescue Squad, Rockbridge Area Hospice and Maury River Senior Center in Buena Vista. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Bolling Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service Buena Vista.
