Retired Inspector For H. O. Canfield Dies At Age 76

Olivia Victoria (Libby) Cook McCormick, age 76, of 210 Conner Lane, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at her residence.

She was born on January 12, 1934 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Vincent H. and Alice Walton Cook.

She was a retired inspector for H. O. Canfield (Acadia Polymers) of Iron Gate.

She was a member of the Clifton Forge Women of the Moose Lodge #1683 and also Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Daniel McCormick in 1974; her son, C. D. McCormick, Jr. and a brother, Robert D. Cook.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicki M. Ball and husband, Joe of Mt. Sidney and Patricia "Pat" Conner and husband, Calvin of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Betty C. Kern and Helen C. Frame, both of Covington; a brother, Melvin L. Cook of Richmond; six grandchildren: Jason Ball and wife, Miranda, John J. McCormick, Tyler Conner, Amy Steele and husband Ross, Loren Conner and Justin D. Haynes; two great grandchildren, Addison and Travis Ball; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Lee Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be John McCormick, Jason Ball, Tyler Conner, Berkley McCormick, James Frame, Edsel Frame, Jr., Ross Steele, and Hunter Conner. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Pat and Calvin Conner, 210 Conner Lane, Clifton Forge, VA. The family requests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Sharon Volunteer Fire Department and First Responders, 3910 Longdale Furnace Rd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is in charge of arrangements.
